Establishment:
The General Directorate of Health Care Strategy was established pursuant to Decree No. 320 by the Council of Ministers on September 7, 2009.

On September 9, 2018, the title of the directorate was changed to the General Directorate of National Health Policies and Economics following Directive No. 18987-2 of former Secretary General of the Council, Dr. Ahmed Al-Amiri

Vision:
To become the main reference for health policies, economics, and strategies for all health establishments in the Kingdom

Mission:
1) Developing national health policies based on the principles of economic management, cost accounting, and evidence-based validation in order to improve the Saudi healthcare system and contribute to achieving the Kingdom’s strategic objectives.
2) Monitoring, evaluating, and modifying the operational plans of the healthcare strategy in the Kingdom in cooperation with all relevant entities
