About the Center:

The National Diabetes Center was established according to the decision of the Supreme Council No. 4015 dated 26/01/1436 AH to establish national health centers and based on the decision of the Saudi Health Council No. (3/78) dated 13/9/1438 AH, which will be, God willing, the unified reference for regulating diabetes services at the level of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in order to achieve the Kingdom's vision 2030, which aspires to reach the services of people with diabetes to the ranks of developed countries.

Vision:

A leading national reference center in the control and prevention of diabetes, raising the level of healthy quality of life and promoting public health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Mission: 

• Promote public health by working to avoid risk factors for diabetes, reduce its spread and reduce its complications.
• Work to improve health practices in the field of diabetes.
• Strengthening and strengthening coordination between relevant sectors in the field of diabetes management.​

Tasks of the National Diabetes Center:

• Develop a national diabetes strategy.
• Proposing laws, regulations, programs and legislation in the field of health promotion and diabetes control
• Developing a database of diabetes cases and establishing a Saudi diabetes registry.
• Support and facilitate the implementation of national policies and strategies to combat diabetes and coordinate between the concerned authorities in their implementation.
• Develop evidence-based clinical guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes. 
• Proposing research priorities at the national level in the field of health promotion and diabetes prevention.
• Providing consultations in the field of diabetes control and proposing scientific solutions to health problems.
• Cooperation with centers and competent authorities in the Kingdom and abroad in the field of prevention and treatment of diabetes.
• Holding conferences, seminars, workshops and issuing bulletins in the field of prevention and treatment of diabetes.
• Approving programs related to the Center's tasks and setting indicators of achievement, evaluation and follow-up.
• Work to attract the financial and material resources necessary to support the work of the Center. 
• Capacity-building in the prevention and treatment of diabetes.
• Benefit from the support of scientific and professional societies in the field of prevention and treatment of diabetes.
• Evaluate programs and activities to combat and treat diabetes in the Kingdom with a view to developing them. ​
