Acute leukemia referral:

Approval by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques of the recommendations for the referral of acute leukemia:

• All centres dealing with acute leukemia in all health sectors are added to my referral programme.
• Activation of referrals from specialized centres to hospitals, especially in advanced cases where there is a need for care.
• The Saudi Health Council, represented by the National Oncology Centre, will submit a report on the implementation of this resolution.

Main achievements:

• Forum for the integration of therapeutic tumours services in the Kingdom:

1. Integration recommendations 1:
The National Oncology Centre has been mandated to implement a number of recommendations for the products and forum for the integration of treatment oncology services:
Recommendation 8: Establish a mechanism to control the procurement of radioactivity and cyclotron devices, in accordance with the needs and criteria of each region.
Recommendation 9: The development and addition of radiotherapy equipment in the Kingdom ' s regions should be expanded only after the completion of a study of optimal distribution under the auspices of the Saudi Health Council and the opportunity to partner with the private sector.

Output:

60 per cent of cancer patients need radiotherapy as part of the treatment plan. These devices are not available in some areas. There is a shortage of equipment in other parts of the Kingdom. These devices are specialized and expensive. The National Oncology Centre is concerned with the need to provide radiation treatment in all regions of the Kingdom. A working group of specialists in this field was formed, with the participation of the various health sectors of the Kingdom, to study the current situation in order to provide radiotherapy and photogrammetry services to PET CT in various regions of the Kingdom. A mechanism was set up to control the procurement process, depending on the needs of each region. The private sector was given the opportunity to invest in this area. A specialized team of health sectors was set up at the National Oncology Centre to study the current situation and to make recommendations. A report was submitted to the Saudi Health Council containing the approved recommendations and mechanism. It was submitted to the expert body for approval and implementation.
Establishment of the second version of the Forum for the Integration of Psychiatric Oncology Services:

In cooperation with the Department of Specialized Centres of the Ministry of Health, a second therapeutic tumours service forum was held in Riyadh on 2 and 3 February 2020, with a number of dependants and dependants from members of the Saudi Health Council and 90 cancer counsellors from various sectors. More than 40 recommendations were made to improve the quality of oncology services in all health sectors in the Kingdom.

Future projects:
1. Clinical tumours:

Clinical Pathways (Clinical Pathways) are scientific evidence-based treatment protocols to provide care for cancer patients with specific types and stages of illness. When properly designed and implemented, tumours can serve as an important tool in improving the quality of care and reducing costs and will be harmonized with the laws and methods of the health sector in Saudi Arabia. These tracks will be standardized for the private, public and non-profit sectors. The tracks will include the stages of prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and mitigation, and will be reviewed and presented to national committees and standardized, as well as presented to experts in evidence until they are approved by the Saudi Health Council.
