Based on the recommendation of the Council at its thirty-sixth meeting held on 04/28/1429 AH on the subject of coordination of psychological services, His Excellency the Minister of Health, Chairman of the Council, issued Resolution No. 87990/84 dated 11/19/1429 AH to form the committee and based on the decision of the Saudi Health Council at its fifty-first meeting on 11/24/1431 AH on the issue of merging the Advisory Council for the Development of Mental Health Services at the Ministry of Health with the National Committee formed by the Council to form a single national committee under the name of the National Committee for Psychological and Social Services.
Resolution No. 345468/0784/1 was issued, dated 02/18/1431 AH, to discuss ways of cooperation and integration in providing and implementing psychological services and to develop unified strategies for implementation and achieving the desired standards for these services in the Kingdom. Then Resolution No. 345468/0784/1 was issued, dated 10/22/1433 AH, changing the name of the committee to (the National Committee for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment).
