Introduction
Cancer is a health problem and a direct cause of death affecting thousands of Saudis and residents in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a major reason for increasing the burden on health systems. Statistics recorded by the Saudi Cancer Registry indicate an increase in the number of cases annually. However, the numbers are still low compared to the rest of the world. Since the establishment of the first cancer treatment center in the Kingdom in 1355 AH corresponding to 1975 AD, health services for cancer patients have witnessed great improvements; making the kingdom one of the leading countries in providing specialized health care for cancer patients. This is reflected in the high survival and recovery rates for the most common types of cancer in the Kingdom.
