A National Program for Enhancing the Efficiency and Effectiveness of Cardiac Centers in the Kingdom

Objectives:

  1. Enhance the patient journey by improving the quality, safety, and accessibility of care.​
  2. Optimize the operational performance of cardiac centers.
  3. Strengthen the capabilities and competencies of the cardiac workforce.

Key Outputs:

  1. A national performance improvement program implemented across cardiac centers to enhance their efficiency, effectiveness, and the quality and safety of cardiac care.

A national registry for cardiovascular disease and atherosclerosis data, implemented across healthcare authorities in the Kingdom

Objectives:

  1. Establish unified accreditation standards for cardiac centers and departments to enhance patient safety and the quality of cardiac care.

Key Outputs:

  1. A national program for the evaluation and accreditation of cardiac centers and departments based on defined standards, service capabilities, and the scope of cardiac procedures and diagnostic services.
  2. A qualified national workforce specialized in the accreditation and assessment of cardiac centers and departments.

Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD) Risk Assessment Calculator

Objectives:

  1. Develop an electronic tool to assess an individual’s risk of developing atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD).
  2. Support public awareness and preventive education on cardiovascular disease.

Key Outputs:

  1. An electronic ASCVD Risk Assessment Calculator for estimating an individual’s cardiovascular risk.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

Objectives:

  1. Enhance the quality of care for patients with cardiovascular disease, particularly those recovering from acute cardiac events and cardiac surgery.
  2. Reduce hospital readmissions through the provision of cardiac rehabilitation services.
  3. Support the establishment and expansion of cardiac rehabilitation services across cardiac centers and departments.

Key Outputs:

  1. Cardiac rehabilitation services implemented across cardiac centers and departments in the Kingdom.
  2. A qualified workforce with enhanced capabilities in cardiac rehabilitation.

Public Cardiac Emergency Response System

Objectives:

  1. Improve survival outcomes for individuals experiencing cardiac emergencies in public places.
  2. Enhance the safety of individuals in public places by enabling timely emergency response and reducing complications until specialized emergency medical services arrive. ​
  3. Reduce the burden on the Saudi Red Crescent Authority through early public emergency response.

Key Outputs:

  1. A national system to ensure compliance with emergency response requirements in public gathering places.

National Chronic Disease Prevalence Assessment Initiative in Collaboration with the “Absher”

Objectives:

  1. Assess the prevalence of chronic diseases within the population.
  2. Support evidence-based decision-making through comprehensive data on the burden of chronic diseases in the Kingdom.
  3. Enable strategic planning and optimization of healthcare services.

Key Outputs:

  1. A national database on the prevalence of chronic diseases in the Kingdom.
