بناءً على قرار المجلس الصحي السعودي في اجتماعه الثاني والأربعين المنعقد بتاريخ 1430/01/21هـ. المتضمن اعتماد الرعاية الصحية المنزلية إستراتيجية صحية وتشكيل لجنة وطنية تمثل فيها جميع القطاعات الصحية لتفعيل خدمات الرعاية الصحية المنزلية صدر قرار معالي وزير الصحة رئيس المجلس رقم 36647/84 بتاريخ 1430/05/16هـ. بتشكيل لجنة وطنية للرعاية الصحية المنزلية ومن ثم تمت إعادة تشكيل اللجنة بالقرار رقم 65527/84/1 بتاريخ 1433/01/01هـ بمسمى لجنة الطب المنزلي.
